Why Flamingos?
Flamingos aren’t just our favorite plastic yard ornaments—they’re the heart and soul of This Flocked Up Life. Turns out, these beautiful birds are the perfect mascot for modern motherhood, and here’s why:
Flamingo moms pour so much of themselves into their chicks—literally. When they feed their young, they lose nutrients, energy, and even their vibrant pink color. It takes months to recover and regain their strength. Sound familiar? Like flamingos, moms give so much to their families that it’s easy to forget to care for ourselves.
But there’s more. Flamingos are loyal, social, and community-driven. They mate for life, raise their chicks together, and thrive in flocks of hundreds or thousands, called a “flamboyance.” They remind us that parenting is better when you’re surrounded by a supportive village.
Inspired by their resilience, loyalty, and ability to thrive in community, we built our brand around these amazing birds. Because just like flamingos, moms are strong, social, and beautifully unique—even when life gets messy.

Meet Your Hosts
Lacey Ring-Verbik
I’m a mom of 2 - a beautiful college-age girl and a too-smart-for-his-own-good, out-of-the-box teen boy. Our daughter is in her sophmore year of undergrad, and I like to say that I’m a ½ empty nester. I’m married to a wonderful man and have been for more than 20 years. We’re a happy, cookey, mid-western, middle-class family who love dogs. We chose the public school route for our kids and have had a largely positive experience with that. I’m a working mom and entrepreneur, and that’s a huge source of pride for me. I’m a recovering perfectionist and people pleaser. When it comes to faith, I’m a Spiritualist and love all things energetic and metaphysical. I love to entertain, have fun, celebrate, and make people laugh.

A full-time homeschooling mother to three amazing out-of-the-box children, two boys, and one girl, all of whom are in the teen/pre-teen era of life. I am married to an amazing man who is also an out-of-the-box thinker, and our love story is my favorite. We love board games, D&D, audiobooks, and living room talent shows. I work remotely, am an Entrepreneur, and am a Master Practitioner of NLP. By nature a “helper,” which oftentimes means I have put others' needs and wants before my own health and wellness, and now that I have spent the better part of the last five years rewriting what that means to me, learning that showing up for myself allows me to show up for my family, friends and even you on a higher level. My faith is grounded in a God of Love, not judgment, and our family's foundation is love. I love making sourdough bread, spending time with the people I love, and reminding everyone I meet that at least one person in the world is cheering them on.
